A Network of Memory
This project is meant to combine the personal and the digital definition of a network–this meaning a web of connected links or nodes.
It is meant to interact with the audience by allowing them to view my own history/memories, and the connection made with those memories for me with specific songs. The song is the link; the memory is the node.
Created by HTML and CSS code and using WordPress as the host site, I have created a website with clickable “bubbles” that take the viewer to a new page with every click. I used bubbles as my visual reference because most of us in our own childhoods have experienced the awe of viewing and/or chasing after bubbles at some point during our infancy, which means we all likely have a core memory of bubbles as children. At the center of the landing page is a digitally drawn self-portrait. Each “memory” accessed within each bubble includes a video from my past, along with a song that provokes a specific memory. Each accessed memory includes a very small description of who is in the memory/what the memory is, the year, and the song title. It is meant to transport the viewer through time and space and see a glimpse into my history and possibly feel more of a connection to it through the personal song choice.
Here is a link to my project presentation which provides my thought process, inspiration, research, and images/moments of the process as I was creating it.
I am very proud of this project, even though I almost gave up like 20 times. Thanks for checking it out!.
